Mexican, Really?
Mexican, really?
I’m a Mexican expatriate living in the US for the past 7+ years. Born and raised in northern Mexico, food was an integral part of my upbringing. Recipes are passed from generation to generation and 100-year-old recipes are still part of everyday cooking in Mexico.
Through my teenager and early adult years I developed a passion for cooking. I used to devour cookbooks and religiously watched American cooking shows on satellite. So coming to the US in 2001, I had a solid foundation in Mexican food and a decent understanding of American food….Well, at least I thought I had.
Besides the first Thanksgiving night I spent in the US when I went out at 6pm to “grab a bite to eat” (and of course ended up having a nice junk food meal at home), the biggest shock for me was finding “Mexican” food all over the place…Awesome!!! Restaurants carry a variety of “Mexican” dishes; Grocery stores have a “Mexican” aisle…This is not that bad, I thought. So I decided to give one of these “Mexican” places a try, hoping to cure a bit of my home-sickness. So I got there, and although the decoration of the place made me feel at Dora the Explorer’s home, I stayed on track and decided to order.
Steaming, Hearty Choices Beef Stew With Cumin Seed for That Cold Winter Evening, or Sunday Afternoon
Stews are a very unique dish for several reasons. You can add the staple ingredients such as onions, potatoes and carrots. There is so much freedom to this dish that you can add different herbs, and other vegetables that will make it your own. I use salt, pepper and flour in my stew to dredge the stew meat, and then I sear the stew meat before I start braising which is a low and slow cooking method. This will help thicken the stew and also give it flavor. I will give you a very detailed set of cooking instructions. This will be an easy to follow recipe without much prep and cooking time in the kitchen. The afternoon will be yours to do with what you wish and dinner will be served on time, and will be a meal that everyone will enjoy.
This recipe has a little different twist to it. I have added cumin seed to this stew. I am sure you are probably wondering why? I love the flavor of cumin, and it has the flavor stamp of Mexican, or as I like to say Texican. I am of course from Texas and I love TEx-Mex food. I thought that I would take my stew recipe and add some new zap to it. The cumin can be omitted if you do not care for the flavor of it, as it is very distinct.
Italian Style Decorating Tips For A Fresh New Look
An Italian home is an inviting one. Italians are fans of people and the homes that they live in have a welcoming atmosphere. Creating that atmosphere in your own home is easy to do with a little paint, arrangement of furniture, and certain accessories.
Good cooking, company, and wine are at the heart of an Italian; therefore, your decorating efforts should start in the kitchen. Italian decorations for the kitchen are very popular, so you shouldn’t have a hard time locating them. There are paintings and other clever things such as representations of spaghetti or meatballs that can be hung on the walls. The olive, a staple of Italian foods, is represented on many serving trays or other functional pieces for the kitchen. If you choose one thing and build on it, soon you’ll have things all over your kitchen that scream Italian.
Somewhere within this kitchen or in a dining room there should be a wine rack and at least four wine glasses, but preferably more. Wine is in the hearts of most Italians. They are famous for their vineyards and their love for their wine is obvious. White or red does not matter, but wine is a part of the Italian culture, and makes a wonderful addition to an Italian style decorated home.
Economical But Oh So Tender Beef Brisket Recipes
Brisket is basically the chest of the cow, and as such includes the ribs. So not the easy to sort out steaks, but a joint with loads of flavour that responds to the right sort of cooking. At one time any beef would only be eaten by the rich , which is why in English the word beef comes from the Norman French ‘Beouf’ . the Normans ate the meat. The Saxons looked after the animals – so it is their word Cow that is used for the animal. Cattle comes from Latin and meant movable property – as in chattels.
In those times of course cattle were only killed at certain times of year – the autumn to save providing for winter fodder. This meant that meat had to be preserved – usually by salting it. It also meant that it wasn’t always as fresh as it might be – hence the use of spices in medieval times to cover any bad tastes.
Brisket is an economic joint that works best in recipes that specify long slow cooking – 5 or 6 hours as opposed to minute steak. I find a slow cooker is great if you have one. It is usually purchased ready boned and rolled. Because the animal uses its chest muscles all the time the muscle is firm and would be tough unless cooked slowly.
Induction Cooking Unit Got Big Potential in Kitchenware Market
Gas Price High in China – A Better Alternative is Induction Cooktop
Now the fast rhythm of life and the pursuit of leisure comfort are welcomed by the young (people, many of them consider an induction cooking unit as a device combing convenience, health and economy. So they are increasingly invented to the kitchen in china.
The sales performance of Induction Cooking Unit is promising and got great market potential. In the recent gas price increases, Induction Cooktop turns out to be a “new favorites”.
How an Induction Cooktop Works
Induction cooking is being touted as a superior cooking method primarily because of the nature of the heat it creates. While gas and other electric stovetops create heat using burners that sport gas flames or red hot heating coils, induction stovetops cook food by heating up the pot itself. Sounds impossible, but an induction burner creates an electromagnetic current beneath the surface that runs up through the pot, creating resistance in the pot’s metal, and in turn creating the heat you need to cook your food.

The restaurant recommendations bring together all the restaurant information from 15 metros in the US in one neat site.
